I am registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (# 3112), and my journey in Clinical Counselling began with a master’s degree from UBC in the year 2013. Dedicated to my career in the field for over 15 years, my particular competency is in helping individuals work through the impact of childhood trauma. I also have extensive experience assisting immigrants in navigating the complexities of cross-cultural challenges.
Approach
Integrating well-established therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)/Radically Open DBT (RO DBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) etc, I also employ holistic lens that leverage the healing capabilities of somatic memories, visualization and drawing insights from dreams. Moreover, I apply Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) where relevant, to delicately deal with trauma. It is essential that my approach appreciates each client’s embedded life histories, aiding them as they work towards personal growth and break free from their struggles.
Specialization
While I work with all clients with various life challenges, I observe that my work resonates profoundly with adults dealing with the echoes of childhood trauma. My focus revolves around aiding individuals who still grapple with experiences of childhood trauma, assisting them to re-establish and cultivate a loving connection with their inner child, forging a foundation of lasting empowerment and independence.
The gentle process of engaging with the inner child can lead to tremendous change, allowing clients to rediscover and recover their genuine core and address historic injuries. Our mutual goal in therapy is to build resilience and independence, creating a path where one can flourish in the face of adversity.
